Chronic Disease Management
Dr. Teresa Tierney
GP (MBBCh, BAO, Dobs, DCH, FRACGP)
After qualifying in Galway, Ireland, and working for some time in country, I moved to Australia in the late 80’s. Initially I worked in Victoria before moving to Perth, where I worked in several practices before setting up my own practice, which I operated for 11 years. During this time, I also co-founded and was Director of the Mercy GP After Hours Clinic. I have worked in remote areas of WA as a GP for the Royal Flying Doctors Service (Western Operations) where I gained considerable experience in Indigenous Health and Remote Medicine. I have worked as a Senior Medical Educator in WA GP Training and more recently have worked as a GP locum in St Johns’ Health Urgent Care Centres in Perth.
My interests lie in GP Education, Respiratory and Cardiovascular Medicine, Indigenous and refugee health. I have done voluntary work in South Africa and India, which was immensely challenging but rewarding.
I moved to the beautiful Great Southern in mid 2020 where I’m enjoying the rural lifestyle and some long-distance walking on Bibbulmun track. I love golf though my game is very average!
