Denmark Family Practice is pleased to offer in-house iron infusions in our treatment room.
Previously, patients may have needed this treatment in hospital. Now you can conveniently have the procedure done in around one hour at our practice.
Iron is essential for the human body to create haemoglobin which in turn makes red blood cells that carry oxygen from the lungs to the rest of the body. Low levels of iron can cause fatigue and a condition called iron-deficiency anaemia.
Whilst the most common ways to treat iron deficiency is through nutrition or taking iron tablets/liquid, in some cases an iron infusion may be required. For instance, if you are unable to tolerate iron given by tablet or need a rapid improvement in your iron levels.
Our patients will have an initial consultation with a Doctor to discuss the need for an iron infusion and the risk and benefits associated with this procedure.
